XCaliber Container's 20 ft Modern Cabin

HOW TO DESIGN YOUR DREAM CONTAINER CABIN

Want to give your container cabin a homey feeling or design it unique to your needs? Designing your dream container cabin provides various benefits, such as showcasing your personal expression, optimizing functionality, and creating long-term satisfaction. Continue reading to learn how to design your dream container cabin!

STEP 1: PREPARING & PLANNING

Define Your Needs & Preferences: Consider how many people living in the cabin, weather conditions, kitchen and living room sizes, and storage needs.

Choose The Build: Based on your preferences, choose which standard build fits your needs. Typically, you will find 20-foot and 40-foot containers—each with its different benefits. If you are designing a cabin for four or more people, keep in mind the size of the container cabin to fit people comfortably!

Research Add-Ons: Research the specific add-ons and specialties you would like based on your needs. For instance, if you live in a sunny location and would like a shaded outdoor area, an awning would be a perfect addition!

Sketch Floor Plan: Design the layout, sketch the floor plan, and use available space. Consider the placement of windows and doors to maximize natural light and ventilation. Choose your interior design, theme, and color schemes. Likewise, plan the exterior finishes—decks, porches, painting, cladding, and more.

STEP 2: PERSONALIZATION

The most fun part—personalizing your dream cabin! There are various ways to personalize your container cabin, giving it the name “home.”

Interior Décor: Choose furnishings, artwork, and decorations that reflect your style. Incorporate colors and patterns that resonate with you, and display sentimental items, such as family photos and personal collections related to your interests. Use cozy throw blankets, pillows, and area rugs to add warmth and coziness. Add greenery and plants that bring life and freshness to your container cabin.

Unique Storage Solutions: Include storage solutions that work for your specific needs. From custom-built cabinets to creative shelving, storage can enhance aesthetics and functionality.

Custom Painting: Pick a specific color for the outside of the cabin to enhance its uniqueness and personality. Consider adding accent walls with different colors and patterns.

Custom Lighting: Install unique light fixtures that add ambiance to different areas of the cabin.

Personalized Exterior Touches: Enhance the exterior of your container cabin with personal touches, such as decorative landscaping, outdoor seating areas, and greenery.

STEP 3: CONSTRUCTION

The last step is construction—where you will need trustworthy, hardworking, and reliable people to help create your unique style of cabin.

Remember that designing a container cabin requires careful planning, but it offers a sustainable and personalized living space that suits your lifestyle.
